What the work is
Join a leading AI lab's cutting-edge GenAI team to be at the core of the AI revolution, where your expertise fuels the development of the most advanced generative AI models.
Overview
Join a leading AI lab's cutting-edge GenAI team and help build foundational AI models from the ground up. We're seeking a talented Commercial Video Editor and Post-Production Lead with deep, hands-on commercial and agency editing experience to bring real editorial judgment and elevate the quality of our AI training data. This is a full-time commitment of 40 hours per week.
Key Responsibilities
- Guide research teams to close knowledge gaps and improve AI model performance in commercial editing and post-production, including pacing, continuity, versioning, color and delivery.
- Design challenging, real-world editing tasks drawn from agency workflows, such as hero cuts with cutdowns, aspect-ratio reframes and localized versions, and produce reference edits with editable timelines in Premiere Pro or DaVinci Resolve.
- Evaluate AI-generated video and edits and give clear, written feedback, catching problems with pacing and rhythm, continuity, audio sync, color accuracy, title safety and delivery specs.
- Develop guidelines, rubrics and quality checks for editing and finishing, including technical checks with tools such as FFmpeg.
- Collaborate with other subject matter experts to ensure consistency and accuracy in training data.
Who gets hired
- 5+ years of shipped commercial or agency editing work at an editorial house, post house, agency in-house studio, production company or brand studio (for example Rock Paper Scissors, Work Editorial, Cut+Run, Final Cut, Company 3, The Mill, Hogarth, or an agency such as Wieden+Kennedy, Droga5 or BBDO), with named brand and campaign credits. Crowd rating, data labeling and student work do not count.
- Expert, daily use of Adobe Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve, with working knowledge of Avid Media Composer and After Effects for conforms, temp comps and handoffs.
- Fluency with editable source files and interchange formats you deliver and work from: .prproj, .drp, AAF, XML and EDL, ProRes and DNxHR masters, and project handoffs to colour, VFX and audio.
- Comfortable with FFmpeg or equivalent command-line tools for transcodes, probes and batch exports.
- Hands-on Rec.709 grading and finishing experience, including skin tones, LUT handling and delivery in Resolve.
- Deep experience cutting and versioning for broadcast, online video and social: :60 to :06 cutdowns, 16:9, 1:1, 4:5 and 9:16 reframes, localized and re-tagged versions, subtitles, safe areas, loudness and slate specs.
- Working familiarity with generative video and AI editing tools such as Runway, Kling, Luma, Sora, Topaz, Adobe Firefly and Generative Extend, and the judgment to tell a strong result from a plausible-looking weak one.
- A public portfolio or reel of shipped work; you will be asked to walk through it.
- Ability to engage reliably for at least 40 hours/week during weekdays.
- Strong written communication skills and the ability to explain creative decisions clearly.
