What the work is

Role Title: English Voice Recording

Role Type: Contractor

Opportunity Snapshot

Pay: $20 - 70/hour

Project kickoff: Monday, October 19th

You’ll need: A quiet room with no background noise, a reliable internet connection, and a smartphone or computer that can record clear audio

Your tasks: Read provided English text aloud, record it following detailed guidelines, and submit clean audio files

micro1 is engaging native and near-native English speakers for a read-aloud speech recording project. The work is straightforward: you’ll be given English text, you read it aloud following clear guidelines, and you submit the recording. Your voice helps train next-generation AI speech systems. No prior AI experience is required — clear speech and careful attention to instructions are what matter.

Scope of Work

  • Read provided English prompts aloud, accurately and naturally, following the pronunciation and pacing guidelines.
  • Follow the instructions for each prompt exactly — including reading answer choices when the task asks for it — without adding your own responses or interpretations.
  • Record and submit clear audio files using the tools or platform provided.
  • Keep your delivery consistent across sessions: same clarity, same enunciation, same pace.
  • Re-record and resubmit when a take doesn’t meet the quality standard.
  • Flag prompts that are unclear, ambiguous, or have technical problems instead of guessing how to read them.
  • Stay in touch with project coordinators to align on quality expectations.

Who gets hired

  • Able to read written text aloud smoothly, without stumbling or flattening it into a monotone.

  • Access to a consistently quiet space for recording.
  • Reliable internet connection.
